chip kidd and john gall
Chip Kidd is an author and editor but is well known primarily for his amazing book covers. He lives in New York. He is the associate art director of Knopf, an imprint of Random House. After reading Chip Kidd's interview what interested me the most is finding that perfect balance of staying true to the subject matter without making it cliche or something that has already been done. I also liked how he described a book cover in comparison to a magazine cover. "Where a book cover, if it's done right, is going to just suggest a sensibility, it's going to be a lot more coy and a lot more discrete." Kidd is so important to design because his cover designs brought book design to a whole new level and to this day he keeps inspiring others to create great book design.
